The Mattawa General Hospital Construction
has been progressively moving forward. The structural elements
(steel beams, concrete walls etc.) are 80 percent complete.
All trusses and the remainder of the steel structure should
be installed by November 15, 2007. The Contactor expects to
have the building fully enclosed for the winter including
all vapour and air barriers, insualtion windows. The exterior
block on the lower level of the walls is being installed.
The new entrance off Highway 17 is coming
to completion and will be utilized by all heavy equipment
that need to gain access to the site. This will alleviate
the stresses such equipment had on Turcotte Park Drive along
with any safety concerns residents had with the volume of
traffic near the school.
Some interior partition walls have been
constructed and it is now possible to get a 'feel' for how
the room layout will work. There have been tours of the construction
site for the hospital staff and there is growing excitement
as the new hospital becomes a reality.
Until the next
update, enjoy watching the progression. Check out www.mattawahealth.ca

Hospital Project
Update April, 2007
To keep local residents informed on what
is happening at the new Mattawa General Hospital Construction
site, The Mattawa Recorder and The Mattawa General Hospital
Board are collaborating to bring readers monthly news updates.
These reports will come from interviews with Matthew Curry,
Assistant Project Manager, ZW Group and/or Ted Darby CEO Mattawa
General Hospital.
In this latest update, Matthew Curry has
informed us that the site has been 100% cleared of all soil
and boulders. Turcotte Park Road has been blocked this past
week due to construction taking place for the water main extension.
This was necessary to provide the new hospital with water
service.
The last couple of weeks have also been
spent working on the footings for the new hospital. The next
stage of the project has been broken into two segments, east
block and west block. Bondfield has prepped the east block
footings, completed the form work involved, and has poured
concrete for approx. 75% of the footings. Forming for portions
of the foundation walls has begun as well.
In May, Bondfield expects that
work will continue to take place to complete the footings
and foundations. The site services will be completed with
sewer construction on Mattawan Street and roads and sidewalk
work will continue.
Until next time, this is what's happening
on the construction site.

On a également
